was born and raised in Everett. During his remarkable 43-year career in Congress, Scoop became
a national leader and champion of human rights, environmental protection, international affairs,
and public service. Though his influence extended across the nation and around the world, he never forgot his roots and remained deeply committed to the people of Everett.
As we reflect on his remarkable life, we are reminded of his enduring belief in “leadership for the public good,” a principle that remains as relevant today as ever.
